Depends southern half is in winter in July, August. You can ski at bariloche in Argentina in july. So depends on what you want to do.

Sept thru December is a good time. It's rainy season in Machu Picchu from November through April, and if you wait too long (i.e. our summer) it will be winter in Argentina.
What islands in Argentina?
Matteo M
I don't know what "islands" you are refering to in Argentina.. but the Island of Tierra del Fuego is most of the time ..COLD regardless of the seasons... Of course it would be ideal to visit in Dec, Jan or Feb as it is more bareable...
Buenos Aires in Argentina tends to be very hot during January.. however, the city is very empty due to the fact that the locals are away on summer vacations....
happy travels...
