Yes, the capital of Honduras is Tegucipalpa and San Pedro Sula is really the better commercial and industrial center being the major port city now. Tegucipalpa was devastated by Hurrican Mitch, in part because the river that runs through it choked up with debris and there were many mudslides. Tegucigalpa is surrounded by mountains. It has an airport, Toncontin, that is so dangerous to land on because of the close and nearby surrounding hills that it is closed to most commercial traffic at night!
