Ounce in Ecuador you can fly to the Galapagos for about $300 and as low as $250 if you buy them at the local MegaMaxi..
So depending on where your coming from it shouldn't be more than $1000.$500 from Miami , that gets you to Quito, a Hotel in Quito is approx $10 per night.
When you arrive to the Galapagos you can freely roam around to get the best deal on chartering a boat, last time I went I was able to get a last minute 1 week all meals included for $800 the lowest being $400 and the highest being $2000 you get what you pay for...
Don't forget about the $100 park fee not included and spending money..
To sum it all up YES you can go to the Islands for under $2000.....Ren

Hi Jeff, I'm out of Florida too and had decided to make that my 2009 trip. I researched a lot but the Galapagos is just not a cheap place to visit. I found this deal on Gate1travel http://www.gate1travel.com/south-america-travel/ecuador-tours-6ddecgpsis.aspx?SessID=0EE3DAEF-141A-4C89-BFBC-04A110784D58 and it includes air, but it's still over your $2000 cap. It is the best deal I've found though.

Thanks Ren Tech - I'm doing it that way now!!!! Great information!
