What is the meaning of Chile po?

I don't understand the PO. I looked at someone's photo album and it said Location: chile po!

Chile has a distinctive way of jive talking. They tend to omit the "S" sound at the end of a word. Example: Vamo a la playa el vierne? a great example of this is made public when you go to Av. Presidente Kennedy with Av. Manquehue and find a street sign that says "Semaforo de 4 tiempo".

Another commonly used error is to "Italianize" the ending of some verbs when used in the second person like: Estas-Estai, Caminas-Caminai, Comes-Comi, Bailas-Bailai.

So PO is also a consequence on the Chilean tendency to omit letters. Po comes from "pues". In other countries like Peru, Bolivia and maybe Ecuador. people tend to answer with "si pues" and "no pues" while in Chile you say : si po - no po

Pues has many uses in spanish, mostly to enforce an affirmation or negation. Like YES INDEED or NO INDEED

in chile they sometimes add 'po' to the end of words for emphasis. for example it;s really common to say como estaipo- how are you?! it doesnt really mean anything though

BoSSy M.
its as if u add the Po like saying "man" or "hey" or "c'mon" kinda silly I guess but I still say it myself after so many years speaking it..

eg: no po, si po, ya po, hehe I love it.

its just something they add to end of some words
ex: ya(po)!
like...."okay (then)"

Mike B
The prior answer is correct. It is used like the word "pues" in other Spanish-speaking countries. It adds emphasis to the word it is attached to.

It kind mean "of course".

Are you from Chile? Si, poh (yes, of couse).
What's your favourite food? Papas fritas, poh (French fries, of course)
What's the best country in the world ? Francia, poh! (France, of course)

it doesn't mean anything, they just add it to everything.
For example,
Q: Do you live in Chile?
A: Si, po.

I live there and I don't really know what it means although I have to say I have fallen into the habit of saying it as well because everybody does. po.
