The problem is that the minimun wage is not enough to cover the essential needs of a family.

HA HA HA HA that's FUNNY, minimum wage, ha ha ha, once I stop laughing I'll tell you the VAST majority of Venezuelans don't make in a YEAR what someone in the USA make (minimum wage worker, working 40 hours a week) in one month, if you thought there was poverty in the USA, you haven't seen ANYTHING there's NO such thing as the minimum wage, my maid, (by the way I LIVE in Venezuela) makes about 100,000 Bs a week, about 4 weeks to a month, she makes around 400,000 Bs a month, that's a little UNDER $200 US Dollars there's about 2,500 Bs to one US dollar. AND from what I understand we pay our maid VERY well, and she makes more than the majority of the population in Venezuela.

Nowadays, it is 465.750,00 Bs (bolivares). After September 1 it will be 512.325,00 Bs. This is not enough to cover the basic family needs. If you need to know the equivalent in US dollars, you may divide between 2150 (that's the official exchange rate) or between 2615 (unofficial exchange rate). I hope this will be useful.
