What is the recommended daily travel budget for Argentina?

I am visiting Argentina with my boyfriend in March 2007 to see the country and visit some of his family. I know the exchange rate is very favorable to the US dollar, but I was curious as to how much people spent on average per day on things like food and excursions. I have heard Buenos Aires is cheaper than super-touristy Ushuaia, but I was interested in an average. Thanks!!!!

I went to Bs.As. 5-6 months ago, and every day living actually is cheaper than Chile or Brasil.
If you consider taking cabs (taxi) from place to place, and eating out twice a day, in average restaurants, you shouldn't spend more than 20-25 US dollars a day p/p.

An entire meal in Puerto Madero, which is one of the high class places in the city, will cost you no more than US$ 15 p/p.

And another tip: if wanna go shopping, the shopping centers are the same as everywhere. You'll find regular stores at regular prices. If you wanna spend less money, go to national clothing stores, like in Florida street. (as the taxi drivers for more places).

Good luck in your trip :)

I don't know. But--I recently gave a massage to a customer from Argentina. He mentioned that his son's rent for a room in what sounded like a Hostel was $120 monthly. He also said that meat and most other foods were much less expensive thatn here is nthe US.
Hope that helps...I know how difficult it is to plan preparedness for a foreign economy. The exchange rate doesn't really give much of an indication as to how much the money will buy.
Good luck, and enjoy your trip.

I went to Argentina over the summer and I had a great time on not a lot of money. It depends on want you really want to do. A good meal at La Boca(which i highly recommend you go to) is around 5-6 USDdollar and a visit to the soccer stadium is very cheap around 5 USD, if they aren't playing. So it all depends on what you want to do and stay. You can have a great time going around downtown on nothing and seeing many things on around less than 100 arg pesos (35 dollars)

Most everything is cheaper in Argentina than in the US. You can find a lot of tours that are free or only cost $3-5. A steak dinner generally ran $4-6 (and it's incredible!!!) so you'll look at the menu in disbelief. The subway is fairly inexpensive (I believe 50 cents, but don't hold me to it) and it goes to all the major areas. If you like shopping, leather is very cheap! I bought a very nice pair of knee-high leather boots for $45 and some stores will let you bargain. Most of the activities outside of shopping and eating were free, so daily expenses didn't run past $12/day. Have fun!
