let me said this...in the early 1900 in colOmbia we have a war called the war of the 1000 days (la guerra de los 1000 dias ), so we have problems inside the country , we dont care about panama that was one "departamento" (like a state) of colombia so when USA support the idea of create a canal that join the two oceans , the president didn`t say anithing so we lost panama and now it is call as an independent country for more or less about 100 years

ok, Panama was like a state of Colombia. It was very important for Colombian, because they figured that with the construction of the Panama Canal, they would earn a lot of money. However, Panama wanted the independence, but the Colombians not, so the USA helped the Panama Revolution to get the independence, in exchange for the right to build the Canal... |
