What is this type of music called?

I recently spent some time in the Peruvian jungle, and I started to like the music they were always playing on their radios. I don't know how to describe it other than "jungle music", but there was accordion in it and it was really repetitive.

I think...I THINK...the name started with either a b or a d.help me out?

well its not cumbia, but it derives from cumbia.

in la selva they have a strong influence from brazil. i dont know which type of music in specific you actually listened to, but i would guess. i think you heard something like "juaneco, ruth karina, rossy war"

in that case in la selva they have a lot of types of music:

juaneco, explosion have the PANDILLA rhythm which is strongly influenced by brazilian beats, but also by indigenous sounds. plus they even use "weird" instruments.
ruth karina, rossy war, are way different because they are into the TECHNOCUMBIA style. that type of music uses mostly guitar and the synthesizer.
and lastly i would say toada, which was actually popular during tha late 90's , and the start of this decade. this is the rythms whihc has a lot of brazilian influence, and is mostly heard in iquitos. to differ it from pandilla, pandilla is herad in the whole region from chachapoyas, san martin, loreto, pucallpa and even madre de dios......

was i helpful?
