electronic things are more expensive in Costa Rica. Computers are a prime example, though perhaps you may not want to buy a computer as a gift. Some like tequilla or vodka, which you can buy cheaper in the duty free shops than in the local stores. Because of taxes and import duties, almost anything imported will be more expensive in CR than the USA. That covers a lot of ground.

My cousins were fascinated by the ipods we had when we visited. They loved the DS and pretty much anything else electronic just because everything there like that is WAAAYYY more expensive than it is here. Most people down there still play with playstation 1 and xbox. So anything is pretty cool in their books.
