For the most part I walked but the bus, trolley, and cabs are very inexpensive by US standards. At night the bus system and trolley shut down so you can walk or ride a cab; however, I would recommend taking a cab unless you're with a group of 5 or more for safety reasons. At night the cabs don't run off the meter so you can bargain with the driver for the fee. The buses are a little confusing at first because there are no bus stops (they just stop whenever a person flags them down) but once you figure it out they're not too hard. |

i lived ther for very long, ans its very easy to get arround, they have a new mean of transportation called "Trole o "Ecovia" wich is a sort of overground metro, that routes arround the city, cabs are very cheap also, and the cities them self are not that big so a long journey would probably cost u no more than 10 USD, something you should know is that always u need to negociate before..To tour arround the city try to go to the large coah services such us Panamericana, Flota Imbabura, TransEcuador and a few more tha i dont remember..
I hope u enjoy it........ |

cab is cheap and safe! you have also a kind of "Taxi amigo" (a friendly cab) which you call and he will pick you up. If you think that cab are cheap, these guys are cheaper and safer! and most of the car are news!
Good luck, you will love my country!
Now I'm living in Ft. Lauderdale but I still miss my little tiny piece of land in the midle of the world vast map!
Have a picture in the midle of the world! |

Bus ($0.25) , yes, train, no. Too modern for horses or donkeys, walking, maybe in the historic downtown. Cabs are good and not expensive (depending on your budget) at all ($1-$3 dollars will take you almost everywhere that you need to see or you can hire a cab for around 5-7 US dolars/ hour 593-(2)-222-2999). |

Quito is a modern city with good bus and cab service. Of course you could walk or bicycle, too. |
