What should I do while I'm in Ecuador? |
I'm in Ecuador for 2 months. I am definitely going to do some mountaineering, including Cotopaxi and Chimborazo, and I'm going to make sure that I get to the Galapagos Islands.
Does anyone have any recommendations for other things that I really should see and do while I'm over there? |

It depends on what you want to do.
We spent 3 fabulous weeks on the mainland of Ecuador, mostly birdwatching. If you like the outdoors I'd suggest a visit to Sachatamia Lodge in Mindo. It's lovely, the food is fabulous and there are paths to explore ... http://www.sachatamia.com/home.shtml
Of course, the Galapagos are a must. And you may want to take a trip down to Peru to see the Sacred Valley (Cuzco) and Machu Picchu if you haven't done so.
The best market place in the country is supposed to be Otavalo, but think the crafts are better in Peru, esp. in Pisac. But Otavalo is worth a weekend trip. (I think it's Saturday for the major market.)

while in chimborazo visit guano it is a small town were
they make leather jackets pants handbags etc

You are in ECUADOR, mate. Go out and explore. Live the life of the locals. Ask the hotel to recommend a good local guide in the city you are in or ask them what group programmes they have. Say YES to everything. Go skydiving, bungee jumping, snorkeling, go mountain climbing and hiking, etc. |
