What should I get in Chile?

Okay well I am going to Santiago, Chile this summer for 2 months. I'm 15 and I'm going with my family. Are there any cool clothing stores or souvenir stores there that I should go to? I like stores like pacsun, Tilly's, forever21 and abercrombie..thanks!

Mrs. Obama rules!
All of the above answers are right but I do have to add one thing... if you're 15 and want to buy a souvenir for your friends back home and want to play a trick on them, then buy "el indio picaro". It's a wooden statue of an indian, but the head pops up and a huge you-know-what appears out of nowhere! Never liked them but my children did and bought tons to take back home when we left Chile. You can buy nice souvenirs in Cerro Santa Lucia and Centro Artesanal Los Dominicos. Don't spend your time and money buing american stuff like Abercrombie, you can get those home. Try buying local stuff and get all the chilean cultural flavour.

I have lived in Santiago de Chile since 2005, and there are many modern malls you can visit (Parque Araco, is one example). They have all the North America/European chain stores contained within.

There are always people selling stuff on the street, just becareful especially with electonic & media goods.

This is a very open economy, even by North American standards, ie: let the buyer beware.

The weather will be cooler here in June, July, August, because it's our "winter".

It will rain, but not heavily nor for extended period of time (total annual rainfall for Santiago: 300 mm), but all the rain falls in those 3 months. The temperature can range from 5ºC-18ªC depending on the day.

Just a health note: make sure you get shots for hepatitus. It is quite common here (and in latin America). The longer you are here the greater risk you have of contracting it.
I had the shots, but still managed to contract a milder form of it. Most people who live here have had it, so be sensible, protect yourself as best as possible.

Hombre, what can I tell you? Most souveniers, like in any country are absolute rubish. You could buy a musical instrument called panpipes or get some CDs of origional Chilean music, but being only 15, that might not interest you. You could get a mate tea set, which is a little pumpkin shell vessel into which you put mate tea and then top up with hot water. Then you sip it through a thin pipe. In South America this is a social thing, where a group of friends pass the vessel around among themselves. There are many shoe shops and clothing shops in central Santiago. You can find up to 15 shoe shops within 100 meters, so don't take your mum there.Walk up the hill at Santa Lucia, good views from the top and well worth seeing

they do have a mall their that has some of the stores we have here in the u.s.
it is just a bit more experience.
and the places that are not like in the mall have cool handmade things.
their cool to like hang up and stuff.
to remind you of you're tripp.
;)
