Well, if you come first to San Jose, you can find lots of clubs...bars and nightclubs...You just hop in a cab and ask him for the best one...

Outside the city, u have! and have! to go to Guanacaste, Tamarindo...Great beach,, lot of nightlife...and pretty much anything you want.
And there are hotels and rooms everywhere, not expensive and pretty decent.

Avoid going out at night with expensive stuff...like cameras or things like that... And if you pay 4 a room or something, please! leave ur passport there!! Cause, if for some reason u get robbed...well...

To get an idea of places to go, u can start at San Jose, visit a National Park and the InBio park...if you are interested in knowing about nature and stuff like that...

Then you can get the bus to Guanacaste, and spend most of your time there, getting to know beaches...

Thats my advice...

Im from Costa Rica, and I love 2 travel around so...who can give u the best advice huh?

Good luck! If u need 2 know anything else, write me.

well dude,
i'm costa rican but i could tell you that i'm a solo traveler most of the time
go to la fortuna, there are lots of places there that you can stay and go.
then to monteverde enjoy the mist and the rain drops with a hot cocoa, coffee or even a nice beer
then head to montezuma for the beach and the crazy small town
its a small town with everything in it. also there are lots of stuff you can do there and lots of thing to enjoy
each place have their bars and night places you can spend time and meet people from every where

Quepos and Manuel Antonio have really nice beaches and many places to visit. San Jose probably has the most clubs but watch where you go because some areas can be dangerous. I wouldnt advise you to walk around in San Jose alone at night, especially if you have drank alcohol. Often cases of robbery are reported and intoxicated or people walking solo are usually the target.
