What state does Columbia, South America, compare to?

I have a project and I need to know what state it compares to with population, area, and climate!

It will be hard to compare Colombia the country to a particular state in the US. The reason behind my statement is that the country is so varied in ecozones.

The Andean city of Bogota is very much climate wise to Los Angeles.

Medellin is very similiar to Phoenix just add a dash of humidity. My Colombian wife says that to me. ;)

Cali and Cartagena are very humid which can be compared to Florida in the summer, but it's year round... maybe Hawaii.

If I were you I would make my report more of how diverse colombia is within it's small borders as compared to the larger US.

PS. I also agree with some of the posters that Colombia is one of the most beautiful places on earth. It's people are warm and happy, their food is fantastic and their overall culture is very interesting.

What it's not is what you hear in the news drug cartels and rebels.... That's not the Colombia I have experienced and I've been traveling there every 3 - 4 months for the last 5 years.

Hope this helps you.

John.

There isn't a state that compares.

yeah, i am with Preciosa. Colombia cant be compared because it's the most wonderful place on earth. If you dont believe me, you should go and see that happiness is in my beautiful land

Preciosa
It's spelled COLOMBIA.

Colombia is bigger than all the states, except alaska. It has 42 million people and the climate varies from region to region. On the coast lines it is very tropical and hot, in the interior and can be spring year round and have a temperate climate like in the 70s. I dont think you can compare it to any state.
