there is is plenty to do in lima (since you're only going to be here for a week)....first go to the plaza de Armas (the main square) and the museum of gold and the larco huerra..if you go shopping, there are many great places but the main place for tourists to go to is the Indian market.. always remember to bargain...never settle with the shop keeper's prices..Another fun thing to do is to go to larco mar...lots of great restaurants and shops...there is also hang gliding...One very good restaurant is la mar....only open for late lunch (best time around two) great ceviche... It is a shame that you have to stay in lima..there are so many great places to go to in peru...peru travel guides are very helpful...enjoy peru

You can visit Lima's main square (plaza de Armas) where you'll be able to see the Persident's house and the Cathedral.

You should visit some museums too. Museo de la Nacion (biggest museum), Museo de Oro(just Incan gold exhibits), Museo de la Santa Inquisicion (the old Spanish inquisition), Huaca Pucllana (an incan temple in the middle of Lima), Museo Nacional de Antropologia (tons of Incan stuff).

March is a great time to go to the beach too

I would really advise looking for some sort of tour to make sure you visit as many places as possible when you get there.

go shopping to the famous FERIAS, or some SHOPPING MALL in lima
go to the stadium, if you like soccer, we have 4 teams in lima
go to the museums
go to the theaters, and to the cinema theaters
go out to the surroundings of lima, like asia, ancon, chosica
go 2-3 hours away N or S from lima to places like huacho, caral, huaral, chancay, lachay (N) asia, mala, cerro azul, canete, lunahuana(S)
eat all you can eat, well there are not that many buffets in lima, but we have a variety of foods, like COMIDA CRIOLLA, CHIFA, COMIDA DE LS SIERRA, SELVA, etc
visit or experience the night life in lima

and since February is almost there PLAY CARNAVALES :D

Get the hell out of Lima. I've never been more bored than I was in that city.

Definitely go to the central plaza. There is a lot of history there. I will be there 2 weeks after you for my 3 visit. Of course there are museums and other interesting historical sites to see. Check at the hotel where you are staying.

In the Miraflores district:
Take surfing lessons (US $ 20 an hour)
Ride on a two person Paraglider (US $ 30 an hour)
Larco-Mar Mall (movie theaters, Restaurants, discoteques, etc. etc.)

Take the MIRABUS TOUR (a roofless 2 stories bus) there are many tours you can choose like Miraflores-Port of Callao (including a boat trip around the islands) total time 5 hours for only US $ 17. You take off at 10 am in Larco-Mar Tue-Thur-Sat. There are also other tours "Colonial Lima", Pachacamac ruins"
