Been 7 times to BA and it is a very safe place. You need to take precautions as when you are travelling to any part of the world, alone or with people. There are specific neighbourhoods which are a bit dangerous at night (Boca, El Once, etc) Try and stay in either Recoleta or Puerto Madero. There are very nice hotels there and those two areas are well protected. In Puerto Madero you have lots of restaurants and nice places for drinks, I can recommend you stay in either Hilton or Faena which are very trendy right now. Recoleta is also a nice safe place to stay as well as Palermo. As for safety, be cautious of pickpocketers along Calle Florida where tourists usually get mugged. However, I have never experienced something like that when I went there (last time Nov. 2006). Argentinian men like women a lot and you may ocasionally hear someone flirting or shouting things at you but in a nice way, never disrespectfully.
If you want to see old BA go to San Telmo's fair on Plaza Dorrego on sundays and if you want to see a nice argeninian estancia with parrilla and gaucho show go to Estancia Santa Susana.

I owuldn't say "very safe", I lived there for 6 years. It is one of the safer big cities in Latin America, but it still has its porblems and has certainly improved from the crisis years when crime was getting bad from 2001-2004.

Food - La Caballeriza, Cabana Las Lilas en Puerto Madero are classic places but you can go to any parrilla in the country and enjoy a great Beef-fest. Rodizio is a great Brazilian style steak place that gives unlimited meats. Avenida de Mayo is full of Spanish restaurants.

Lots of pubs, bars and discos. Buenos Aires News was always the hotspot for young people. Divino in Puerot Maderos has a new name, but is a greta place.

There are lots of things to do and see in Buenos Aires. There are great museums, steet fairs, historic places. There are also great restaurants for all tastes, from the typical "asado" to sushi to pizza. There“s a lively nightlife, lots of bars and friendly people.
Buenos Aires is a city with an European flare, with great architecture and culture.
Buenos Aires is not only about tango, and you will never get bored at it.

While in Buenos Aires, I would also recommend hopping the ferry (only 50 minutes!) and visiting Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. It is a very pretty colonial town with tons of charm! I was there in Sept and really enjoyed it!

Nothing. See a tango show in NYC central park, save your time and money.
