What would it take for an American to move to Peru? |

I probably wouldn't move even if I could, just looking in case I see an entire meltdown that would take a very long time to fix. Somebody on here suggested Peru because it doesn't rely on oil as much as other places so peak oil wouldn't affect it as badly.

well, that Peru doesn't rely on oil as much as other places, is really NOT TRUE. Just to let you know, even when we have huge gas reservoirs in the country, and even when we have a little oil in the jungle, now-a-days gasoline costs around US$ 5 per gallon (90 octane, like plus here) and the premium one is around US$ 6 per gallon. |

If you pay off an apartment like in San Diego California or New York and rent it for about $1,000 dollar a month then you are set.
You go to Peru and get a job of about $1,000 so then you will have $2,000 dollars a month and you are set. You won't be rich but you will have a confortable life.
Or just go there and marry a rich girl. What can I say?
If you are an employee you won't make money over there, you have to own your own business. Rich and upper middle class are business owners and professianals (doctors, attorneys but mostly business owners)
