Ah, well there's the "tomate de arbol" (literally tomato of tree.) I don't know where they are from originally, but you could buy them everywhere in Ecuador and grew in the forests.

I agree, bananas, papayas and mangoes are all very prevalent.

My favorite is passion fruit, which is called maracuya (with an accent on the last a) in spanish.

There are lots of fruits though - they have custard apples and oranges (different varieties, mandarinas especially) too.

In Costa Rica they have Mamones Chinos, Mangos, Papayas, Jocotes

papayas, mangos, anonas, jocotes, talpa-jocotes,

those are from el salvador. Those are the main things i eat there when I visit my family!

A fruit exists in Brazil of name jaboticaba, that fruit only exists in Brazil, it is very funny we already try to export that fruit, that here is very consumed, but the countries that received didn't like it because they found it indefinite flavor.
We also have a lot of fruits of Amazon, Açaí is making success in the United States, but we also have the cupuaçú, that produces a rare type of chocolate Cupulate. I like a lot fruit a name is Umbú, it has lemon taste, but it is not acid.
