It really depends on where you are going, Chile is aloooooooooooong country and you can pretty much find all sort of weathers possible! You have the desert in the north and Patagonia at the south.

Arica, which is a town in the very north is called "the town with the neverending spring" due to its weather, you would def not get that in the south. I used to live in La Serena, and winter is about 5-10 deg min and 15 deg max, and summer about 25 deg max, but if you head into the mountains during summer you can get about 35 degrees.

If you are heading for the South, try and make it Jan-Feb which is the main chilean summer then you'll get warmer weather and less rain. But in the north you wouldn't get much rain (if any at all) during the winter.

Have a great time! It's an amazing country.... I'm off for a 4 month chile trip with my boyfriend in 2 months :) yaaaaay

btw what Cristobal said about Easter Island is right, I think Feb is the right time to go as then they have a yearly festival that lasts about 2 weeks

I'm actually going there in 2 weeks, best time of the year is from September (international Chile day is awesome Party on!) till about January as they have a 3 month school holiday then, but in February is the Festival of Vina del Mar and that can be fun to go to as well.

Winter is bloody cold mate! like below minus 10 sometimes and Summer is hot at 40 degrees at times but because it is dry in the city you don't feel a muggy sweat like in more tropical countries like here in Australia.. lived there for 7 years and if memory recalls pack a bit of everything!

Good luck :0)

Well, since Chile is in the southern hemisphere, their summer is our winter, so going down there between November and February should get you the best weather, especially for the activities you want to do.

We were in Argentina in March and it was rainy and dreary. :(

Cristobal Salvaje
go to Easter Island in late Jan early feb
