On September 15, 1821, the Captaincy-general of Guatemala (formed by Chiapas, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Honduras) officially proclaimed its independence from Spain and its incorporation into the Mexican Empire.

The general captaincy of Guatemala proclaimed his independence on September 15, 1821 and his incorporation to the Mexican empire was a January 5, 1822 and after dissents for diverse sectors of central america finish in 1823 with the war central american-mexico that it last 18 months.
