the best time are two options.
may to July and September to Nov. but take car about the space to do the inca trail made your reservations with 4 or 5 in advance now are only 500 person per day use the inca trail, is a sanctuary. protected by UNESCO and only few companies have the option to organize group and get the space like a hotel at the moment there are only space in September to December. check with this company www.epuertotravelperu.com / viajes@epuerto.com they provide a best services and good guides to do the inca trail

October to March is summer. Rainy season is January to March. Fewer tourists during this time. Less crowded this time of the year but hot, humid and wet.
April to September is winter. More tourists but cooler.

I went in December and it was brilliant. Didn't have to put up with the crowds but there were enough tourists to keep you company. The temperature was also comfortable because we were 3.5km high but it was cloudy and wet (due to the reiny season).

BAGOFSWAGS
NOT October to April, that is rainy season. of course, there are fewer tourists, so decide if you want to be wet and not mobbed or mobbed and not wet

Either June or July as it's the time of the year when things are most organised and there is hardly rain, therefore no mud in the Inca trail. avoid at all costs January, February and March.
