It all depends, on where you want to stay. If you are staying in the Central Valley I recommend a hotel called Hotel Posada Canal Grande. It is located in Santa Ana, outside of Escazu. If you are staying in Guanacaste. There are various diferent places to stay: Cañon de la Vieja Lodge near de Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. Hotel Borinquen, also near Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.

Places to visit...
1. Monteverde Cloud Forest
2. The Beaches
3.Tabacon Hot Springs, near the Arenal Volcano

The folks at this site will provide you with a lot of information. Have them call you and ask them to mail it to you.

They also have wonderful beach front land at unbelievable prices. You don't need to buy anything, just let them provide you with details.

Hope this helps.

Stay in the Guanacaste Province, that is the northwest. You can see the turtles nest and lay their eggs on the night of the full moon. The volcanoes are cool but, you can almost never see them because of the mist. The hot springs around the vacinity of the volcanoes are excellent however, why do you need hot springs when the temperature never goes below 65? You can take an ATV tour for 4 hours and do a Zip line ride at the same time. Great way to see the Rainforest up close and personal. The beaches are clean and safe. You might like Playa Conchal or Flamingo Beach-each has a lovely resort. There are many inexpensive places to stay-try Brasilito and Nosara. Both have nice beaches. Fishing is great here. The whole northwest coast is the place to be.

If you like surfing and beach life, Tamarindo in Costa Rica is the place for you.
