I agree with the above answerer... Jaco is very Americanized, and you dont really get the "Costa Rica Experience" there. An American was killed there in June, but he was trying to buy a prosititute and was flashing his money in a club.

Even Hermosa is better then Jaco, even though they are a 5 minute drive apart.

There are a ton of hotels in Jaco now, and really, they are all nice. All are clean and sterile. But you will completely miss the Costa Rica experience.

Have you purchased your flight yet? If you purchase your flight online, you can usually get your hotel setup at the same time. You can find one that meets your qualifications, especially since you can usually find generic ratings (e.g. "three stars" etc.).

hmm jaco is expensive... try near jaco :) wink... but at least still near in the beach and not expensive.. :)
