Costa Rica isn't ever dry, dry, dry. It's tropical and can be very wet... if not humid. I'd say Southern California beaches!

For real hot and dry, try Las Vegas. You won't be disappointed.

Las Vegas Nevada.

Costa Rica is never hot and dry. In addition, September is rainy season time in all of Caribbean, Central America and Mexico--it even rains in Arizona in September. September is late Winter/early Spring in South America so you won't get hot there.

To get hot and dry, I would go somewhere in the Mediterranean basin-- if you want exotic, I would go to Agadir Morocco or the islands off Tunisia if you want beaches. Both areas are quite safe for Europeans/North Americans. If beaches are not a requirement, Egypt, any place with the Sahara desert would work. For night life, Dubai would work and it would certainly be exotic.

Go to the Southern end of Costa Rica around Golfito its about 20 miles north of the Panamian border on the Pacific side and hotter than hell - and I do mean hot!

They have not had a hurricane there in the last 3,000 years!

Have a good trip!

Hi...hurricane in costa rica??? my family is from Costa Rica i have been living there and i never saw any hurricane season. It will be like spring season, pretty raining in September!!! but to be honest with you, is too many place to visit for example:

Puntarenas: beach (amazing good and sunny)
Irazu: volcano (beautifull)
Arenal: volcano ( really good , if you are lucky you can see the volcano in eruption.it is like fireworks-amazing)

check the weather in the website but normally in Costa Rica the weather can change depending of the area to visit.

The Costa rican people call themselfs TICOS, like the new zealands call themself Kiwis.
Pura vida, expression to say i am really good that means Pure Life.

Good luck and enjoy

There are no hurricanes in Costa Rica, there might still be rains in some parts of Costa Rica in September but it is near the end of the rainy season which rains on and off every few minutes.
The hot and dry area of Costa Rica would be Guanacaste, which is the north western coast line.
Are you from Dubai ? It´s almost as hot as Dubai during the dry season in some areas.
