Cisco

Where is the best area to live if you are into cafe culture & nightlife of Buenos Aires?

Looking for an inexpensive hotel or serviced flat. Is San Telmo good? How about La Boca?

Cisco, I agree with Clairesa. Try other more hip places like Hollywood Palermo, recoleta and my favourite best: Puerto madero. In those 3 places you will find lots of bars, pubs, discos, restaurants and they vary in price. San Telmo is great for a sunday visit (antique fair) and is near Puerto Madero (walking distance) and La Boca is no good, really.

Those two places are nice to visit but not stay. If you are interested in great restaurants, night life and the young, hip, sexy, modern Argentinian crowd, stay in Palermo Viejo or Recoleta.

I would say Recoleta or Palermo are the best choices. Anyway, San Telmo is far better than La Boca. La Boca may be good to visit, but not to live.

San Telmo is gonna be cheaper and there is the right place for the cafe culture. Looking for nightlife? Barrio Norte or Recoleta are better but will be more expensive, no doubt about that.
Anyway , you can be in San Telmo and ride a bus(5am to 11pm) or a taxi (is very cheap) to anywhere anytime.
At daytime you can ride a bus for penies literately.
I love San Telmo, is one of my favorites places in Bs As(I'm from Argentina, living in FL), bars live music arts everywhere, all night long
