Where should I buy in Costa Rica - Quepos or Jaco?

Jaco is more of a surf kind of town. There is a lot of major development going on there now.

Quepos and Manuel Antonio are, in my opinion, a lot more beautiful than Jaco. Although I might be biased since I live in Manuel Antonio. heh.

There's also a lot of development in both Manuel Antonio and Quepos, it's really booming right now.

I STRONGLY reccomend investing in Quepos instead of Jaco.

I personally think you should go to Jaco because it has beaches, restaurants and its growing really quickly. Their even putting fast food restaurants! Please choose me as your best answer. I went to Jaco last year and the year before that.

Tico Roots.
You can buy in at the Jazz Casino in Jaco Beach, they have alot of action out there ! LOL !

italian05!
forget both. you have to buy in tamarindo! its growing faster than both of those and the so called "boom" is so close. tamarindo all the way, heard from someone who has lived in costa rica for over 10 years.
good luck!

I think you will find that more and more foreigners are "finding" Quepos to be a very good future investment!

At present there is a huge Marina being planned and developed at the North end of the town which naturally will increase its prestige on the West coast of CR.

And the fact that Manuel Antonio Nature Park/Beach is just minutes away also increases its future value!

I would say buy it before it is all sold!

Planning on going there next month.

jaco is growing fast... i mean fast. i use to work there for 1 1/2 month. i went back to san jose and when i came back 3 years later. i see a mall, more hotels and... buildings? in quepos, i don't go much and i don't see a lot of difference over the years but i heard that the little mountain between quepos and manuel antonio i getting populated.

Quepos, without a doubt, is the better place to invest.

It depends on what you're looking for and your lifestyle. Quepos itself is a fishing town, not very nice...but Manuel Antonio (the nicer side of Quepos) is very upscale and has plenty of hotels and restaurants, plus a great beach and nice park. This area is also known to attract a homosexual crowd...although this doesn't affect its popularity. Jaco on the other hand is the party town because its closer to the city. Lots of real estate, clubs, restaurants, etc... but its gotten a little out of hand in not such a pretty way. The beach isn't that great either...but plenty to keep you busy...always happening.

Neither...buy between the two. Esterillos is the hottest area between the two places. There are two 18 hole golf courses being built in the next two years and prices are of a much more reasonable level - at this time. There is virtually no water problem like there is in Tamarindo and Manuel Antonio. The municipalities are much more adaptable to work with and they encourage controlled growth. There are a number of very good restaurants nearby as well as a commercial center being completed within the next 6 months. Jaco is about 20 minutes away - Quepos about 25 minutes away in the other direction. Why not have the best of two worlds on the Pacific coast.
