for South America usually LAN.com has good prices. But try figuring out the local airline and go to their website. For example, if you want to go to Colombia try Avianca.com, if you're going to Costa Rica try Taca.com

it totally depends alot on where you are coming from and going to. i'm from florida and american air runs alot of specials on central america. spirit air has started going there also but to get the good rates you have to coincide your dates with their special dates. but even their regular rates are usually very good. i just returned from panama and flew into costa rica and then took natures air to panama. it saved about $200.00. panama city is very expensive to fly to for some reason but if you can get into another location and then take a domestic flight you can save alot.

Personally I used TACA and found the best rate when I flew down this past summer. I had a round trip ticket to El Salvador for around $550. I was there for 6 weeks. I hope this helps. Have a great time down there!
