Mrs. Obama rules!
Years ago, Panagra airlines offered a package called "Golden circle of Latin America" (Circulo de oro de Panagra) They offered what experts called the best of South America. It all started in Peru (Lima and Cuzco), then they went to Chile (Santiago, Valpararaiso, Puerto Montt) then crossed the lakes into Bariloche, then fly to Buenos Aires, go to Montevideo (and Punta del Este), go to Iguazu falls, and stop in Rio de Janeiro.
Although Panagra and Panam do not exist anymore, the golden circle of South America is still well known in travel agencies.
I have been to Bolivia (Santa Cruz and La Paz) but I would rather stick to Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brasil.

Be careful where ever you go, but Venezuela beaches are great. Especially a place called Isla Margarita. Its an island and it is absolutely gorgeous. But be really careful because Latin america is a lot different than other places.

Well, first of all what are you looking for? If you're into the Incas (for instance) then Peru would be the most appropriate place for you to travel.

I have been to Panama, Cuba and Mexico (all of which i reccomend). Panama is a friendly country, especially to the U.S. and you will find many people who are willing to speak to you in english or spanish (depending on your preference). Cuba is a little less friendly but you CAN go there if you like. Mexico is much the same as Panama except that you will pay more money there then you will in Panama because of its proximity to the U.S. Make sure that you get all the proper information before making your choice and make sure you guard yourself and your belongings while your there. Also dont forget to have lots of fun!

It depends what you are into. If you like nature, Costa Rica and Ecuador are two of the best countries for that. If you like festivals, culture, and historical stuff, Mexico and Guatemala are really fascinating, particularly the interior (not the beaches, where most tourists go to). Brazil has a lot to offer too, but their tourist visa requirements are a bit time consuming (though fair, considering what we demand for tourists coming to the US). It all depends on what you want to see and do.

Depends on what you're interested in. Scuba diving is great in honduras (Roatan islands). There are impressive Mayan ruins, Guatemala also has the spectacular Tikal ruins as well as amazing mountains and volcanos that you can hike. Plus awesome lakes and the ocean with great beaches. the crafts and weaving at the markets are incredible.
Costa Rica is very modern but has fantastic mountains and rain and cloud forests. It's a very environmentally friendly country.
Belize has all the benefits of the other Central American countries but they speak English (of course you pay much more)
Each country has it's own amazing treasures and attractions. The best way to see them is to take local transportation as much as you can. It's pretty safe and much cheaper. You may want to take the 'executive' buses when travelling between countries - they will wait for you at the border.
