Where would be a peaceful spanish speaking spot to move with our 2 & 1/2 year old for a year?

Other than Mexico, we would like to experience another country for a year, and have our daughter learn some spanish before she starts school. Argentina, Chile, Spain, etc. ??

Tegucigalpa, Honduras has a beautiful climate. It's up in the mountains. Taking a kid there is no guarantee she'll learn the language. If you keep her with you all the time or hire an English-speaking nanny, nothing will happen.

Have you considered Miami?

I agree with "The Bird" Tegus is a great place to live. I know because I lived there myself. There are some good Spanish language schools. As "The Bird" said, if you keep your daughter with you all the time she probably won't learn Spanish so a suggestion for that would be to put her in a bilingual preschool. There are several good ones in the city.

Do you plan to work (either for pay or volunteer) while you are there? That's a great way to use the Spanish you will learn and get involved in other things.

I"d say Costa Rica or Panama. Both safe countries. The spanish in argentina is very hard to understand and Spain is cheaper than other EU nations but still expensive because their currency is the Euro. I'd go with CR or Panama.

Costa Rica has a stable democratic government, nice people and is just beautiful. Also inexpensive.
