Oh a girl after my own heart. They have an adventure type - all inclusive - vacation package down there that is a coast-to-coast adventure. You start out on one side and for the first night stay at one hotel and the next day leave and go to the top of a volcano and then stay at another hotel and then leave and then another day zip cord into the rain forest and then leave .... it takes (I think) 7 days. It sounds AWSOME! This is my dream vacation and as soon as my husband recovers from surgery - hopefully next year - that is exactly what we are doing. |

San Jose i stayed in a hotel called cocori good and close to the Mercado and bus station also close to the telegrafo is the post station, good and inexpensive. |

san jose is a dump, unsafe at night and nothing worth seeing!
jaco is generally regarded as THE worst beach resort in CR, full of crime, drugs and prostitutes and their elderly american clients!
the top attractions are Monteverde- cloud forest- and La Fortuna- home to Arenal volcano.

Jaco Beach, or Puntarenas; but rent a car in San Jose and drive down there. The country is pretty safe, the worst thing that could happen is you get drunk and lose your wallet(do NOT carry a purse, it's too easy to misplace!). Nice people, decent prices and great weather...and Jaco is a plus if you surf. |

depends on what you seek.
west coast above nicoya penn is great for beaches swimming is to be cautious though,even surfing those are heavy shark waters.great fishing though, below nicoya on the west is more fresh water polluted,home to bull sharks they swim up the river to lake nicaragua. east coast is great towards panama for beaches and surfing carib. blue water.
or jungle retreats are well founded in several places on both eact and west coast. pick you delight and go for it,actually you can have jungle and beach.depends on your liking.
san jose is party central,just be carefull of the crime.
otherwise watch out for the sharks,sting rays mantas,bukll sharks,hammerheads and makos. jungle spiders,frogs home to the poison dart frog,snakes of some very dangerous varities.
fer de lance,bush master ( ox killers) eye lash vipers, and a few more. monkeys and various flora abound in c.r.
so take you pick and seek it in a good search engine |
