I would say Guatemala city is the largest and most modern city in Central America. Guatemala city has around 2.5 million people living in the city itself and with its metropolitan area it has about 5 million inhabitants. Comparing with other cities of Central America, San Salvador - 1 million, Tegucigalpa, Honduras - 1.2 million, Managua, Nicaragua - 1 million, San Jose, Costa Rica - 800,000 and Panama city, Panama - 1 million.
It also has the best infraestructure of the region (wide boulevards and highways) and its the most cosmopolitan city as well.
