which has better food?
Peru definitely has better food.
Which is more tourist friendly
It depends on what you class as tourist friendly :P
Peru has better more frequent transport, more places to see, retaurants everywhere, some with restrooms, a lot of people speak at least some english, things are really cheap especially in non-touristy areas.
BUT it is more dangerous, you have to be careful of theives and people who want to rip you off. You have to make sure you know how much something should cost before you buy it. The coast isnt that pretty, (but rest of the country is really pretty.) Places can be a bit dirty, though generally they keep them nice for tourists. Have to be careful where and what you eat. (shouldnt eat things like lettuce or strawberries in a restaurant for example).
Chile is beautiful pretty much throughout, more organised, fairly good transport though more expensive, better facilities usually, also safer than Peru.
Which one the people are nicer?
My personal evaluation is that people are nicer in Peru, but they are pretty nice in Chile too. In Peru, it really helps if you try not to look like a tourist, try to speak spanish, be considerate.
just which you like better!!!
I think I prefer Chile, but for someone looking for more attractions like historical sites and jungle I would recommend Peru.
Try and visit both, they are very different! |

I've been to Peru but not Chile. Everybody raves about Peruvian food, I personally didn't like it that much and I went to non-tourist places because I traveled with locals.
Chile is more developed, so I imagine they'll be more tourist friendly. But Peru was nice friendly enough.
Peru also has better sites and it's more diverse. There you have frigid Andean mountains and tropical jungle.
I would say, if you don't have much experience traveling to developing nations go to Chile; otherwise, Peru is the place to go. |

let me just mention that chile stole everything from peru. so if u want something authentic go to peru :)
but hey im peruvian so im kinda biased! jaja
ok seriously peru is a little dangerous, so dont look touristy, but its beautiful. and the coast is great. go to the beach, huanchaco and ride the caballitos de totora. thats fun and try to go to all the historical sites, they are mindblowing.
the food is amazingly delicious, the rosa nautica is the best my grandpa met the president there so its gotta be the best... the people are nice in peru you just gotta be careful of the thieves. peru is definetly awesome... if u go, do go to trujillo. and say hi to my fam!!! :) |

I've been to peru, not chile, so don't base everything off of what i say. I can say i absolutely loved Peru!!!! So here are my answers:
better food? Peruvian food is so delicious, i can't remember a single meal i didn't like.
One of Peru's main incomes is tourism, and they treat tourists with a lot of respect.
As for vacation, the sites are unbelievable, there's only one problem. The ocean water (especially around Lima) is not good for swimming in, and if you're looking for luxury beaches and stuff, i'm not so sure about peru. But if you're looking for just a good time, go to Peru.
The people in Peru are so friendly. almost more friendly than the people in America :)
Going to Peru was the best thing that ever happened to me. Here are some of my recommended sites:
Lima
Cuzco
Aguas Calientes
Ollantaytambo
Pisac
and many more!!!
Good Luck!
p.s: don't worry about people ripping you off, these people live to bargain. Don't pay more than you would in America. just negotiate. |

There is so much to do in Peru. Try staying at a Hostel. The food is awesome as are the people. Once you leave the USA there is always an element of danger. Like the others said, be careful and aware of your surroundings! We would put a few dollars in different pockets so we wouldn't pull out a large amount at one time. Good as a bargaining tool when buying off the the street vendors. |

I've been in both, but as a proudly peruvian, definitively I'd say Peru. Chile is a very nice country too, a little more organized, european style, friendly people and it also has great places to visit (I still need to go to Isla de Pascua !!!!!!!). Chile is a little pricey, though. And Peru, dangerous???, in any country if you go to the getto places you'll be in danger for sure. Just make sure you plan your trip in advance and meet nice peruvians to show you and take you to the best places which are countless. |

I have been to both several times. The climate of Peru is very diverse. Icey mountains to sweltering jungles. Chile is pretty much the same all the way down depending on the altitude. Because of it's shape, you're never too far away from the beach. Chile is definitely more modernized, especially when comparing Lima and Santiago. This in turn makes it more expensive.
Personally, I perfer Peru. I've been all over the country. The food is more authentic. The people are generally more interested in helping you (there's always exeptions). I believe Peru to be more beautiful because of it's diverse climate. Cuzco, Lima, and Arequipa make excellent vacation spots. Very inexpensive. |

PERU! Peru is so special, llamas and macchu piccu! I mean, there's no competition!
Peru actually has the most diverse food in the world, since there are so many cultural groups here.
Chile might be better for the beaches, but it's winter now anyways. |
