not to be rude to the person above me, but what they said isn't entirely true. Yes, there are some dangerous areas in colombia, but it's not what people think it's like. It's not safe to be in the jungle, but the cities and towns are totally safe and like any other country. I totally recommend Colombia, it has nice beaches and great cities with really nice shopping and restaurants, the food is great, the people are nice. And, barranquilla has a really fun carnaval around january-february with parades, costumes, dancing, etc. People who come as tourists have loved it and have come back.

Colombia is great. The people are nice, and they speak the best Spanish. There are tons of international schools there and you'll love it. |

Im from Antwerp and im half Colombian. i would totally recommend going to Bogota , it is a cosmopolitan city and safe! |

In Colombia the best Spanish is spoken, but it is the most dangerous option. it's unsafe to travel the guerrillas dominate the roads. Most people wait to travel during holidays when the military patrols the roads.
Venezuela is really nice for the adventurer and it's close to Curacao a nice Caribbean island. Go to the Angel falls, the tallest in the world.
