Depends on when you start the trip, I have recently travelled all over this area so I'll quickly list the best places. Macchu Picchu is best seen around July-August time, Buenos Aires from December and Patagonia (South Argentina) from December also-Patagonia must be seen. Salar De Uyuni in Bolivia is quite flexible and then of course you have the Brasil carnaval at beginning of February. |

Either way, that is an awesome itinerary. I would say it depends on when you are going:
December-February, I would end on the sizzling beaches of Rio. My Brazilian friend advised me that February is the best time (because of Carnival spirits are high).
I like how you have Buenos Aires and Rio as bookends; any other time, B.A. would be a good ender as you could always tango, enjoy the open air markets, and take advantage of great exchange rates. |

I agree with Cubba you got to be in Brazil for the carnivals they are awesome!! i think you maybe consider where is cheaper flight you can get to go back home.
Have Fun! |

Manaus is quite far from Salvador. I would fly there first and then go to Lima, etc. and end up in Salvador. From there you can fly back to wherever. I have found that flights within Brazil are very inexpensive if booked as part of an international itinerary. Last year I flew from NYC to Salvador (via Sao Paulo) and returned from Sao Luis (also via Sao Paulo) for only about $100 more than the NYC-Sao Paulo flight. |
