I really do not understand why some people still do not understand the Caribbean and Latin American history when they refuse to accept Puerto Rico as a country.

Most people in the US are familiar with Mexico (their Southern neighbor), and are uninformed about the beauty and riches of El Salvador.
El Salvador has Dense jungles, coastal areas, diverse urban cities, tranquil farm towns, and a diverse Eco system with many endemic bird populations. It holds 20% of the world's bird population.
It manages to do all of this in a country smaller than the state of Massachusetts.
Education is mandatory up to 9th grade, and people age 10 and older can read and write (15 and over in Mexico).
Although both countries are equally beautiful, my vote would be for El Salvador.
