I'm not going to support anything Chavez says or does because I think he is an obsessive egomaniacal crazy man on an incredible power trip. There may be some merit in his complaints about US hegemony (hey, we set ourselves up for it with Bush's go-it-alone cowbot diplomacy), but Chavez's solution is to simply bash us at every turn as totally and unredeemably evil while allying himself with ANY regime that shares his obsessive hatred for us - EVEN though those other countries are often indisputably even WORSE than we have been.

And the only reason he has been able to do any of this is because he has benefited economically by our own country's insatiable demand for oil not because he has done anything to manage his own economy that brilliantly. Maybe everyone that hates Chavez so badly should stop driving those huge SUV's that have been indirectly bankrolling him.

The ironic thing is that Chavez and Bush have a lot in common. They both like to cite God and biblical themes in their speeches and use it for justification for their immoral acts. The both have a bare majority of their ignorant voters duped into believing the BS they've been shoveling. And their staunch supporters like to stifle any dissenters in their respective countries as being foolish and dangerous traitors to their "cause" and the nation.

Various leaders will bad mouth other leaders they don't like at the UN, but its usually couched in MUCH more diplomatic language than Chavez used. Even Bush does not talk like that. He went way over the top in the court of diplomacy. The good news is that Chavez may have just shot himself in the foot with his speech. Prior to his speech Venezuela was virtually guranteed of securing a seat on the 15 member Security Council over US objections. Now many borderline countries see him as possibly a dangerous loose cannon and may switch their votes to the US favored candidate of Guatemala.

He is calling a spade a spade. Anyone that dumps the equal of 1/4 million Nagasaki bombs of depleted uranium on a nation that has a majority of people under age 15 and poisons the region till the end of time, causing skyrocketing cancer, horrific birth deformities, and grave sicknesses is a devil.

If we can say it, why can't Chavez. The world at large is generally afraid of US terrorism as we dropped this stuff on 4 countries so far.

A better question is who the heck does Bush think he is to kill people in mass numbers and commit crimes against humanity as never before seen on this earth and get away with it.

He's a World Leader and if Bush can do it, so can Chavez. Bush does it all the time.

Game Theorist
He thinks he is a head of state, and thus allowed to address the UN however he see's fit. Who does Bush think he is to give threats to other countries and their leader?
Granted his address to the general assembly was a bit more 'out there' than usual, but he has the right to do it just as Bush has the right to spout all his 'freedom versus extremeism' nonsence.
Read the President of Iran's speech, his was surprisingly lucid and addressed many of the tough questions in the world today.

Camille M
This is the only country where the majority of people look at Bush in a favorable manner. Even the majority of citizens of our allies distrust and dislike our leader. Everyone else in the world think the average American is an idiot because they can't get past the smoke and mirrors.

Believe it our not, we W is not popular in other countries....It is o funny we are aloud to bash him within our own borders, but once someone else voices their opinion, people want to protect a man they despise...I say call a spade a spade...Bush is a bad person. He wrongly invaded Iraq and has lied about 9/11, to me Chavez was/is right!! (except for the sulfur thing...although it was very clever!!)

The Lord asks us to pray for those in leadership.... including gov't politicians because He has appointed them. We can ask God to give them wisdom in carrying out their responsibilities. We must remember that there are immense expectations from their constituents... and demands on their lives before we choose to critiicize them. Lets pray for all parties involved ... and see the best outcome.

Down with Chavez. Long live president Bush !

mamaloo
He thinks he is better than us and wanted to take the opportunity to disrespect us in our own country. But he gets mixed messages because people like Danny Glover greet him with a hug and a kiss and support his remarks. While I know Americans have the right to express themselves how they wish, I find it amazing that while we have political differences, he would show more loyalty to someone who would destroy us tomorrow if he had the chance...this is amazing. I'm not very proud of all Americans in moments like that.

I'm from Venezuela, but I'm deeply ashamed of having to share the country with Chavez and his foes. That's why I'm leaving the country next year, after he wins the reelection in December by stealing our votes. It's a disgrace what's happening in our country right now. They will change the constitution to eliminate the term "private property" for "collective property". They will also eliminate private schools and start taking over companies (they're doing it right now).

What an embarrassment is having to see Chavez in front of the cameras behaving like the illiterate chimp that he is.

I just hope that people around the world don't think we venezuelans agree with him.

Because we don't.

We need to pull all of our funding from the United Nations. It is a prop force, anyways. then let's see if they keep applauding that jackass.
