Alan Garcia is Peru's president for 2006-2011.
Garcia was also Peru's president from 1980-1985, and many people believe, including myself, that his previous presidential term was the worst ever.
Before Garcia's current term we had Alejandro Toledo.
Feliz Navidad!

Garcia and this is fascinating, because Peru's elections changed the pervasive paradigm to an extent in Latin American elections. Up until that election, the common theme was to blame American hegemony and failed capitalism on the poverty and to on some level come into the fold of Chavez and his "Boliviarian Revolution" (adorable because he named it after Bolivar to make it seem bigger than himself, when it actually is not...it's all about Chavez). At any rate, Garcia's opponent, Humala actually had to distance himself from Chavez, because Peruvian sentiment became so antaganistc towards what it perceived as Venezuelan interference. This played a major role in Peru electing a retread president and creating a speed bump in the socialist swing.
Luckily for Peru, we will continue to see an upsurge in coca hectares under cultivation and a corresponding resurrgence in the Shining Path. Lucky them. This is what American apathy brings.

The president is Alan Garcia.
Who is elected by second time. During his first period he took the country to the chaos, all foreign investment went down, he was not able to stop terrorism and we have had hyperinflation.
By now, he is doing well, inflation is under control; our money is stable against dollar, and foreign investment is coming, the politic is almost the same as Mr. Alejandro Toledo left the country.
I think he is doing well, he has changed for good
