There is much of value in Latin America. Don't forget if you live on the west coast this ALL used to belong to Latin America. The answer is simple. People rely on the government to maintain order is society. Most governments in Latin countries are corrupt. They use funds mostly for themselves and the rich and leave the poor very poor. People result into dealing drugs and stealing because society doesn't allow them to progress. Remember one thing though. Latins are the hardest working people in the world today. But that ethic of work is nothing to a people who are supressed. There are also parts of Brazil, Chile, and Argentina (one country who has the most political riots ever) where you would not want to ever be. And the worst part about it is that if anyone tries to resolve it, then they themselves will incur serious hardships in doing so. |

i agree with preciosa, if you really are from Latin america, you should know learn more about your continent man...Latin americca is very rich, it just is the governments that dont know how to do things...but if latin america has an opportunity, latin america would be way better than USA and Europe together
Colombia is passion |

Calm down, in the world the only are that are richer than Latin America are: Europe and US, Canada and Australia. All Africa and almost all Asia are poorer than Latin America, so I hate comment like "so poor", "very poor", etc cause they lack a broader vision of the world. It's better to be born in Latin America than most countries in world the isn't it?
If you consider that Venezuela is an exception, that you'd have to accept Uruguay, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama and Mexico as exception too, cause all them are richer than Mexico. |

I know you';re not even remotely suggesting that brazil, chile, argentina and venezuela have no poverty, because if you are you need to go do some serious research. Every country in latin america has a significant population living in poverty.
And to answer your original question, yes there are huge numbers of resources in latin america. Now stop asking dumb questions on yahoo answers and go use google if you really want to learn something. |

It does not depends only in the amount of money a country has, but also in the use they give to it ---> CoRRuPtIoN
Even though Argentina, my country, is blamed for having very corrupted presidents, we are the richest country in all Latin America (comparing it's human development index with all the other countries), meaning we are not the country with the highest corruption in Latin America (it has the highest purchasing power parity per capita too). |
