Belmopan is the capital although you wouldn't know it by traveling through it.
Belize City has the international airport and is about 7 times the size of Belmopan, but the government, for about 45 years now, has been trying to get people to move deeper into the countries main land for fear of another devastating Hurricane.

Belmopan, however, you can basically perform on government business there. The economic, banking, commercial capital is Belize City where the majority of the population still lives. Belize City used to be the capital many years ago until there was a hurricane which devastated the city.
It was after that that Belmopan which is more inland became the new capital. Belize City is still referred to as the old capital.
