Will I have problems coming back into the usa if my son is not with me by the airport?
Im taking my 15 year old son that wants to go to south america and he wants to stay there for about 1-2 months. I dont want to come back into the usa and be stopped at the airport by officialls asking where is my son thats suppose to be with me since hes 15 years old? Additional Details New Information posted: Ok, he will be staying 1-2 months from date that we fly and I will be returning within 1 week from the date we fly. By getting that authorization form when I go buy the airline tickets that should give permission to leave him longer in south america and let me re-enter the usa without no problems than?
You will need to send your son with notarized documentation from both yourself and his other parent.

If you have separate tickets then they shouldn't know he should be traveling with you on your return trip. The only way they would know is if you were both listed on the airline ticket. If he is staying with relatives, then that should be an acceptable answer if they do ask you.

You need to have a notarized authorization form. He may have problems leaving Latin America otherwise.

The most important thing is the notarized authorization the above answerer is talking about. Your son need it to be allowed to board the plane, if he doesn't have it, he's going to be stopped at the check in counter at the airport and they were not going to give him a boarding pass.
