Will a vacation in Colombia prevent me from obtaining a Top Secret security clearance?
Not at all, if you go as a tourist and prove you have no connections to guerrilla groups and such, vacationing in Colombia wont prevent you from anything! Why dont you ask your possible employers about this? So that if you are seeking that top secret security clearance job they will know at least you're an honest person and not hiding anything from them.

Not at all. Colombia is not Iraq, North Korea or Cuba despite all its woes.
Besides, Colombia is the best US ally in the region.

No not at all. My dad worked in Colombia for years and had Top Secret (or better) clearance. If you ask how do I know? One time my father, myself and a friend showed up at the embassy. A very formal party was going on. My dad asked the marine if we could come in. The marine was adamant that neither my father - who was in a sport coat and myself (at age 13) and my friend were in Levis - could enter. My dad pulled his ID out of his wallet and in we went. Interesting to note that my dad has always maintained he worked for USAID.
