I have just returned from this wonderful land , so i have many things to tell you about.
The Mochica Culture ( The City of Trujillo) is the culture 3rd to 7th century A.C. It was known both for its fine and well finished realistic ceramics - portraits and representations of regional flora and wildlife, as well as for its majestic temples in the shape of truncated pyramids. Later the same area was occupied by the Chimu Culture (12th to 15th century A.C.). Chan Chan, its capital, is the largest adobe citadel in pre-Hispanic America. This culture was also known for its excellent gold and silver jewelry and for its advanced agricultural techniques - huge aquatic systems, which are still used for irrigation purposes. The great Chimu Civilization was conquered by the Incas in the 15th century. But it is another step in History... |
