It's the biggest lake among the higest lakes in altitude of the world, it can easily be seen on any map of south america between Peru & Bolivia. It's located at 14,464 feet above sea level.

I doesn't mean Grey Puma, grey puma would be chixchi puma.

Titi in quechua (inka language) means Lead (Pb)
Kaka means Crack or Gap

Titicaca means "Grey Puma" "Titi "is Puma and "caca" is Grey or Rock, in Quecha, the local language of the Indians living on the lake. Locally the lake goes by several names including "Rock Puma". Because of its ressemblance to the shape of a Puma hunting a rabit.

Divided between Peru and Bolivia at 3812 metres, Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world.
The lake is over 8000 Km. square and has over 40 islands.

The main islands are Amantani. The island is situated about 30 km away from Puno, the nearest town on the mainland. It is the biggest island on the lake.
And Taquile: It is about an hour by boat from Amantani. The island is about 45 Km. from Puno. The island is about 1Km. wide and about 7 Km. long.

There also The Uros floating islands made of reed (with about 1000 habitants divided into 250 families). There are 4 main islands welcoming tourists: Toranipata, Huaca, Huacani and Santa Maria.

Is a lake bet wen Peru and Bolivia

creativetravelers
Titicaca is the name of the highest navigable lake of the world, it is at 13000 feet, there are interesting communities there living in flotant islands made of reeds that they weave constantly.

Titicaca is a quechua word, eventhough others say that is aymara (languages spoken by the native americans of the andes). So titi is related to the anphibious a sort of feline that lives in both water and ouside of the water, which was considered a tothem in ancient civilizations like the tiawanakus. Meanwhile caca would be related with stone.

Since lake titicaca is shared by peru and bolivia, so nowadays just for fun peruvians say titi for Peru and caca for Bolivia, Now do you know the meaning of caca?
