As a former El Pasoan, I can tell you that there is NOTHING we can do. I heard that there was a proposal to begin sending aid packages to Mexico to help build the infrastructure in order to fight the War on Drugs. Bull. It won't help. The Mexican people have to decide on their own that they're tired of living on their bellies, eye to eye with the family chihuahua and eating their dinner there because the bullets are flying. This IS the Cartel Fight, and they aren't done yet. The cartels don't care who gets in their way. All they care about is the PLAZA...who has control.
I'm afraid any aid sent to Mexico will end up ultimately in Drug Lords hands. Don't believe me? Isn't it funny how former Mexican President Salinas de Gotiari doesn't live in Mexico any and now is in exile in France (last I heard)? Somehow an investigation began on his brother began back home and the authorities dug up his yard and found bodies in 55-gallon drums?
Politics in Mexico are murkier than the Rio Grande there or Ascarate Lake. |

Easy answer. Reduce the demand for drugs. A little hard to implement, but that is the real root of the problem. Stop blaming the suppliers -- supply follows demand, from Big Macs to petroleum. |

You live with it like we do in California.
Stay away from known bad areas, and border towns,
then you
wont' be a target for the cross fire. |

Dark Knight said that -
Unfortunately that is the price of living the American Dream, for some it becomes a nightmare.
I say that while we provide the most lucrative market for the drugs they are trafficking, legalization would be much worse. As a person who has known many people on cocaine and crack. These drugs are all-consuming for the addict. |

It is a civil war that is being fought among the drug cartels and between the cartels and the Mexican police.
The only thing the US can do is to push for extradiction of the drug bosses (like Arellano Felix of the Tiajuana Cartel) as they are afecting the lives of American citizens. Then hang the b>st>rds! |
