I drive 2 thousand miles into Mexico every year with California plates on my car and an American flag sticker in my back window, I've NEVER had any problems in the 9 years I've been doing this.
The worst thing I ever get is guys yelling at me
"Americana! Americana! Que bonita estas !!"

I am an American living in Mexico...people come up to me to talk to me because they see my American car plates...they love Americans . I have never had a problem here. |

That´s funny! No, there is no safe or unsafe, you can wear whatever you want.
One meet all kind of people everywhere, but nothing is really dangerous (well , if you go to the slums, they do not care about your nationality, they are very democratic, who have some pesos is good enough...)
But I understand you, I am Mexican and went to visit USA during that time, where everybody wanted to check the illegal immigrants: 2 persons threw on my face garbage and scream "go back to Mexico", but most were very nice and helpfull.
So, ignore the idiots and enjoy your trip with the cloths which you prefer! |

My wife is a US citizen, many US citizens live in my country. You can see the streets plenty of cars with Texas Plates.
You can see many people wearing Tshirts with the american flag (which personally I do not understand, because for mexicans the flag is almost sacred).
I never have seen somebody mistreating a US citizen. I recognize there are bad people in México, such as they are too in every single city of USA.
Now, canadian people are welcome too. |

Nobody will care either if you are US citizen, or Canadian or Mexican.
If you step by a border city like Tijuana, Juarez, Reynosa or Laredo in the middle of the night for sure you are in trouble doesn't matter where are you from.
There are a lot of Mexican cities that are very used to have foreign people, Monterrey, Guanajuato, Queretaro, all beaches in Mexico, you wouldn't have troubles to walk around and shop or have fun. |
