Playa del Carmen is one of the best beaches in Mexico. As for accommodations, you can check out Hotel Cohiba or Hotel Playa del Karma. They are both in Playa del Carmen and proximate to the beach.

I would have to say Puerto Vallarta. I've heard its just amazingly beautiful. And well everywhere you go isn't safe, but it should be pretty safe if you keep your eyes out, its basically as if you were going to a beach here in the us except for in mexico its much more fun and beautiful,
