It depends on what part of Mexico your going to.. there are some parts of Mexico where the drinking water is right out of the well, but its not bad water, its actually better and cleaner than the one here in the US.
As far as eating is concerned.. all of the food is good over there.
and money wise just remember if the tag says $ 35 pesos its $3.50 in US $$ and if it says 100.00 pesos its only 10 US

I'm also going in two weeks. I've been several times. I recommend reading all the warnings and taking them to heart. You can still have a great time while being alert.
Stay with people, be extra careful at night...and watch who you make friends with. it's not uncommon to be "set up".
Your ATM card is easy to use there so do not carry around too much cash. Do not take anything that you are afraid to lose. do not flaunt jewelry or money and dress conservatively when away from tourist areas
.Even your hotel room is not safe from theft. Cameras and cell phones are hot items.
Now after saying all this, I know that you can still have a great time. Enjoy!

What part of Mexico?? It's a big place.
Be sure to haggle. If the store clerk says $20, offer $5 and only if you really want it.

bad drinking water in mexico is a myth.i grew up in Mex drinking tap water and it never hurt me, bottled water is just filtered tap water. Just check with the locals, if they drink from the tap it should be safe, specially in larger cities, you will see filters being used but that is just for the taste, mexico tap water is heavily chlorinated.
the other tip that i can give you is to not wear anything expensive and walk around with a friend, specially if you are clubbing, and only pick up cabs at a cab stand , not on the street. |
