I had a trip plan, and I am still deciding if I want to go.
they do NOT refund you your flight.
you can change the flight dates supposedly without any penalties...but they are charging me $150.00 each ticket for postponing it. my tickets were 200 something. so I don't think I can use them later on.
. they are charging me heavy penalty fees for the hotel as well, and would end up losing around 800 dollars.
I'm still deciding on weather I want to go or not |

I am leaving on May 16th to 24th. I plan on still going.
The main reason you are going is to get away from stress. Not to add more in your life. Go have a great time. But remember to use caution when you do. Like washing hand, stay away from large crowds.
They have drugs that can control the flu. Like Tamiflu.
Here is what the experts are saying about this flu.
The swine flu virus that has frightened the world is beginning to look a little less ominous. New York City officials reported Friday that the swine flu still has not spread beyond a few schools. In Mexico, very few relatives of flu victims seem to have caught the virus.
One flu expert says there's no reason to believe the new virus is a more serious strain than seasonal flu. And a federal health official said the new flu virus doesn't appear to have genes that made the 1918 pandemic flu strain so deadly. |

The problem is here in Mexico City and the center of the country, if you go to cancun you can stay totally safe.
Good Luck and welcome. |

Go! Don't worry about media hype. I am going June 9th and I wish my trip were sooner. You have just as much chance of catching the human flu in an airport then the "swine" flu in Cancun/Cozumel. Do you live in America? If you do I just seen that there was like 150 some odd confirmed cases in Mexico and 140 some in America. Just be concerned in the air ports, even when there isn't a flu scare i am concerned about catching something in an airport. Get some airborne and vitamin C in your system before you go and you'll be fine. Plus all that Tequila will kill off any sickness! |

I have plans to go to Mexico, May 23-30. We are still undecided about what to do. Airlines are giving travel waivers right now. We're on United and while they won't give us a refund, they are allowing us to keep the value of the ticket as a credit toward future trips.
It's not the flu that I'm so concerned about, but more about if everything in Cancun is closed and the possible hassle of getting back into the states. |

Look man, all the Media Crap has your mind messed up. There are no drug wars, no flu. Stop the madness.
There is NO Health RISK in the Cancun/Cozumel area at all. There are NO Travel Alerts are issued for this area at all. Cancun/Cozumel are open and doing business as usual. The strong swine type of flu is all over the world now, not just Mexico City. The W.H.O. says, "To restrict travel would be useless and not helpful". E-mail me directly in Cancun at robert@cancuncatamarans.com or 1-888-335-1996 I have lived here 8 years. Anyone that says Mexico is not safe is an uninformed fear-monger and not a very smart person. They are only out to spread fear without knowing the facts, plain and simple.

You do watch tv and you read teh paper so by now you should have a clear idea if you should go or not. Of course there is a chance of getting this flu. The human flu is deadlier. I cancelled my 10 day trip to cancun which was planned for may 5th. I am pregnant and have a toddler. Myabe if I was single I would still go. I feel bad I cancelled. I do not have another to chance to go on a vacation for a while.
American Airlines is sending us a voucher valid for one year and bookit.com is refunding our hotel money with no cancellation fees because of the swine flu.
You gotta use common sense. Whoever is saying Cancun is safe really do not know what they are talking about. It could be anywhere but if you want to go and take precautions that is fine.
I am not gonna go and worry whenever someone sneezes next to me in the plane or in the restaurant.
This really sucks!
I hope you stay safe either going or not. |
