Hi, I am planning to travel to cancun in 3 weeks. With all the news about Mexico going around, I am starting to freak out. I know most of the violence and drug war is going on at the boarders, but what about Cancun travel? Online articles make it seem okay, but has anyone been there recently (you or your friend??)? How recently? where did u stay? how was it in the streets? can you go out to eat? what about the malls or nightclubs?? please help!!

Was down for carnival ( about 2 weeks ago) had a wonderful time. Don't worry unless you are a drug dealer or a criminal I would be afraid.
Cancun is great and from there you can make your way to many other places like Isla Mujeres, Playa De Carmen, Cozumel. These Islands are the safest places you can be.

My mom is a travel agent and she has been booking people there every day with no worries.
But like any place, use your brain, don't be like the Aruba girl and go off with strangers.

When you get there, stay at the hotel. They are beautiful and when I was there , they have everything you need.Don't go into town after dark . Someone tried to get in the car with me and I totally freaked. I got away and then had the rims stolen off the rented car. Just stay at the hotel ,and the beach.The water is beautiful aqua.

The Cancun resort area is totally safe..You can go anywhere without fear..Strictly for tourists..No gangs
