Heart had good suggestions, here are a few more. If you like to surf, there are 3 excellent breaks, Olas Atlas, Valentinos and Playa Bruja. Lots of great places to eat. Plaza Machado in El Centro is very romantic, lots of good restuarants down there. If you want desolate beach, hit Stone Island. there is even a beautiful place to stay out there, Estrella Del Mar. They have condos and a hotel, and their own sea turtle hatchery. There are some really neat villages (some with missions) nearby that are worth exploring. Pick up a Pacific Pearl, it's a monthly english paper. There are always events listed in there. Have fun!

I've been to Mazatlan 5 times and absolutely love it! Some of my suggestions are: take a taxi to the lighthouse and climb all the way to the top. The view of Mazatlan and the ocean is spectacular! Deer Island is a cool place to visit. The snorkeling's not that great, but it's fun to swim and sunbathe. A country tour of Concordia and Copala is a great way to see the area surrounding Mazatlan. Some of my favorite restaurants are:
Ernie Tomatoe's
Mickey's No Name Cafe (awesome onion rings)
Panama
Shrimp Factory
Tacos Luna
Bing Ice Cream
Mr. Coco's (right next to the Costa de Oro)
I haven't been to Mazatlan in 6 years so some of these places might not be around anymore. I'm sure you'll love Mazatlan!

I'm from Mazatlan, I live here. Just came up to thank all for the excellent information you are giving to Geo 3 about my town. Below you'll find a web site where you can find any kind of information about this port. Thanks again.

It is a very beautiful and peaceful place still one can get loads of fun people are warm and open to turists, You can do pretty much everything from fishing , climbing rocks to visiting museums you can go scuba diving to an island called Deer Island & Stone Island,El Verde Sea Turtle Conservation Center, and El Caimanero. I bet you are gonna stay at the golden zone -that´s where most hotels are located- so it would be good If you don´t wanna get tours to get a map and information about the places you wouyld like to go you can usually find tourist stands and they hand out maps for free sometimes . Walking would be the best option if you go to the "old Mazatlan " or historic center , the boardwalk is just beautiful one of the largest in latin america if you wanna some night fun then you can visit the so famous Senor Frogs or Joeys oster bay. If you can go to La noria it is a small town where you can visit a tequila destillery I forgot the name of it but im sure most ppl there can tell you,Dont 4get to eat raspados , drink tequila with lemon and salt and Jicama con chile!
Hope you enjoy your honeymoon there =)

I went there last year and absolutely loved it! My wife and I stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay. It is a little ways away from town, but the resort was absolutely tops! Topnotch service, facilities, everything! The actual town of Mazatlan is pretty much like what the other answers said. The local people and merchants are really very friendly and inviting. The boardwalk is a must. It is so beautiful in the evening. And the prices...I couldn't believe how affordable it was! Much less expensive than Cabo! Wish I could suggest things to do, the wife and I just went there to relax. Didn't do much. Let's see, we took a tour of Mazatlan, went to see the cliff divers (you gotta do that..it doesn't take much time) and ate at this great restaurant that looked like a castle at what seemed to be the beginning of the boardwalk in the evening.
